Candleholder - Flint

Our stoneware candleholders are wheel-thrown by studio potter Edmund Davies in East London. Available in Flint or Sand, their complementary shapes and colors make for an understated, elegant tabletop setting. Davies's training in architecture is evident in the rigorous attention to structure and ergonomics that informs his small-scale, functional objects. Made from a textured British clay, these candleholders exemplify his minimal, restrained approach to glazing and palette. Each candleholder is a unique expression of Davies's hand—characterful, though subtle, variations exist between each handmade piece. E.F. Davies

Edmund Davies is a studio potter based in East London whose practice revolves around the production of functional wheel-thrown pieces. After training in architecture, Davies began working in clay through a membership at Turning Earth, an open-access ceramics studio in Hoxton, London. Though still applying the rigorous attention to structure, ergonomics and elegance that architecture demands, he turned his focus to small-scale objects intended for everyday use. His work incorporates a variety of British clay bodies, sourced primarily in Staffordshire and Cornwall, often blending them to make specific colors and textures, while taking a minimal, restrained approach to glazing and palette. Davies also teaches at Hoxton Gardenware, a nonprofit that empowers and employs local youth in the production of small-batch terracotta planter pots.
