The Rhineglas Vase is a gorgeous statement vase designed to showcase everyday floral arrangements. Inspired by the Medieval German glass in the Metropolitan Museum's Cloisters' collection, this tapered vase borrows the dimensions of a favorite vase in Alice's kitchen. Designed and produced in collaboration with Pierre Bowring of Bow Glassworks in upstate New York, this medium-sized, amber-colored vase is the realization of a long-held dream to make a handblown glass vessel in dialogue with the glass art of centuries past. Decorated with honeycomb-textured, decorative prunts, this piece is a true work of art.

Each vase from the initial product launch comes with a complimentary Salmon Creek Farm seed mix and bandana designed by Companion—Platform. The Salmon Creek Farm seed mix features 24 varieties of greens, grains, flowers, edible cultivars, and native wildflowers hand-collected over six months by the SCF community.

Hand-made exclusively for Permanent Collection by Pierre Bowring of Bow Glassworks in New York.

Hand wash only with warm water and gentle soap. Dry thoroughly.

Pierre Bowring

Pierre Bowring

Pierre Bowring is a glass artist based in Newburgh, New York. Having studied at Virginia Commonwealth University and Penland School of Craft, he founded BowGlass Works, a studio specializing in hand-blown glass objects for the home. Bowring found glass blowing as an undergraduate when he walked into a glass shop in Richmond, VA. Color and form are what most captivate him about the material, but how an object will be used, shared, gifted and passed down is what drives his practice. Bowring approaches his work from a place of material discovery: glass is an alchemical material—at once hard and physical, it can only be forged in a state of fluidity.
